Digit Matching
A clinical assessment tool used primarily to evaluate a child's ability to visually perceive and transfer numbers accurately whilst assessing visual-motor integration, visual perception and processing speed.
Digit matching identifies any errors such as omissions, substitutions, or reversals and records the time taken to complete the task comparing to age matched normative data. A high number of errors might indicate difficulties with visual perception or visual-motor integration. Slow performance may indicate processing speed issues, fine motor difficulties, or attentional problems.
Students who may need additional support with visual perception and processing speeds are identified allowing guidance for occupational therapy or vision therapy interventions to improve visual-motor integration and visual perception.
Digit matching complements the battery of tests to diagnose conditions such as dysgraphia, dyslexia, or other learning disabilities, providing valuable information that can inform educational strategies and therapeutic interventions.
