Kinetic Colour Perimetry
Functional visual fields guide central vision. When functional visual fields are reduced midline crossing, head turn with pursuits and saccades, and nodding whilst reading often result. Exophoria, esophoria and strabismus are often associated with reduced functional fields. This dual iPad application in association with the Kinetic Visual Fields Unit allows repeatable, reliable colour kinetic fields, free from examiner bias, to be performed more rapidly than current manual perimetry. Field results versus normal can be seen in real time on a second iPad. Auditory instructions along with colour changing fixation targets keep the subject on task.
The blind spot is mapped both via static and kinetic perimetry and white, blue, red and green colour fields out to 51 degrees are mapped. Field sizes are matched against normal fields for each quadrant and blind spot size matched against normal. Both the visual field maps and any quadrant deviation, interlacing and blind spot deviation from normal are included in the Vision Unlocked report.
Whilst the iPad needs to be rotated manually to different axes (its gyroscopic function will allow it to tell you when it is at the desired axis), the movement to these positions is minimized to improve testing speeds.
We recommend you use the colour kinetic perimetry results to map the success of any photodynamic therapy.
